When we don the costume do we take off the mask?
A gathering of Geeks, Normies, and Magicals.
Call me an idiot but I wish I was with these folks.
'Someday' we will all be in the same 'place'.
 But when?
 Please when...
as a eastern european, these reneissance festivals are quite strange to see, it seems theyre just larping for a few days and then get back on with the normie lifes and jobs, sort of letting out the steam. im not sure about them though. wouldn't call you an idiot, i can see the attractiveness in it
Montecristo, thank you for your attention and response.

Inspired by the feeling this beautiful, fall day is giving me, here are some tunes:

Mr. E's Beautiful Blues:

While I don't feel the same as some of the thoughts expressed in this song, I love it (play it loud):
Adorable - Glorious

Durutti Column - Love No More

"The real secret of magic is that the world is made of words," said Terence McKenna, "and that if you know the words that the world is made of, you can make of it whatever you wish."

I can see the appeal (and also see the strangeness in it). I have one group of friends who really like to recreate in similar ways. Lots of dressing up, costumes and themes. I'm often overwhelmed by life so making a costume to hang out with my friends is something I often pass on. I get it though, adult life is hard and escaping it is wonderful. My sub-adult kids have been playing D&D again after a few years off. They've been having a good time. One of them spent a wad of cash on figurines and stuff recently, I thought we were past that but it is good to see them have fun.

Thank you for your thoughts lamme. My post was not so much about festivals as it was about the masks and costumes people wear 'everywhere'. When we lose our masks we all tend to me in the same place. Also, as far as wanting to interact with all that purposeless activity, not any one in any given environment is having the same experience. Masks run deep.

For the poster 'Cush', and all us others who survived epic foolishness.
Much thanks and love to all those hardworking and patient Guardian Angels too.
This is what happens to Paladins who live in a world where monsters are protected by law.
We get a little crazy. We never cared much for our own skin, it's one of many things that make us so 'effective'.
Human on Human wars are despicable. They are NEVER justified. The wars with monsters however...
How will the monsters ever become Paladins if they are not brought to an accounting? Free us, free us.
Just a thought from a harmless old man.

I can't see, cause it's burning deep inside.
Like gasoline, a fire running wild.
No more fear, cause I'm getting closer now.
So unreal, but I like it anyhow.
I go faster and faster and faster
and faster and faster and faster and faster.
I can't live in a fairytale of lies.
And I can't hide from the feeling cause it's right.
And I go faster and faster and faster and faster for love.
And I can't live in a fairytale of lies.
I can feel that you've mesmerized my heart.
I feel so free.
I'm alive, I'm breaking out.
I won't give in, cause I'm proud of all my scars.
And I can see I've been wasting too much time.
I go faster and faster and faster
and faster and faster and faster and faster.
I can't live in a fairytale of lies.

We have a well rated festival in the summer up near Castle Rock CO.

I have been once.

While my crew only met up with the larpers in our city once we all did sword fight from time to time we made swords out of dowels.

When i faced a larper his sword was superior to mine so he won but it was fun... He was just way more serious about it haha.

I have a vision of wanting to create a live action comic book story with real characters with all my friends dressed to our own character specs.

The real sign of success would be going to comic Con dressed as our characters in real life hahaha

I already have my character..  one friend's  character and general storylines :)
You cannot destroy my vision when you see my vision undestroyed because I am just an undestroyer.

I love this version of Hallelujah

"Well I heard there was a secret chord
That David played and it pleased the Lord
But you don't really care for music, do you?
Well it goes like this: the fourth, the fifth
The minor fall and the major lift
The baffled king composing Hallelujah"

Not all who wander are lost....

Angels on the sideline
Puzzled and amused
Why did Father give these humans free will?
Now they're all confused

Don't these talking monkeys know that Eden has enough to go around?
Plenty in this holy garden, silly old monkeys
Where there's one you're bound to divide it
Right in two

Angels on the sideline
Baffled and confused
Father blessed them all with reason
And this is what they choose
Monkey killing monkey killing monkey over pieces of the ground

Silly monkeys give them thumbs
They forge a blade, and where there's one they're bound to divide it
Right in two
Right in two

Monkey killing monkey killing monkey over pieces of the ground
Silly monkeys give them thumbs, they make a club
And beat their brother down
How they survive so misguided is a mystery
Repugnant is a Creature who would squander the ability
To lift an eye to heaven, conscious of his fleeting time here

Cut and divide it all right in two
Cut and divide it all right in two
Cut and divide it all right in two
Cut and divide it all right in two

Fight over the clouds, over wind, over sky and
Fight over life, over blood, over air and light
Over love, over sun, over another
Fight for the time, for the one, for the rise and

Angels on the sideline again
Been so long with patience and reason
Angels on the sideline again
Wondering when this tug of war will end

Cut and divide it all right in two
Cut and divide it all right in two
Cut and divide it all right in two
Right in two
Right in two
