Post concrete reasons for optimism here. Though my recent path has been hewn with Burmese tiger traps and unctuous gypsies,  its been yielding progress. I can't elaborate but for now focus on this "anons" post

Hard times outgunned have framed our forebears' situation dire before. Because of such, tempered within our national civilty is the mettle to bet the house against our foes (because "fuck you I won't do what you tell me"! / "wtf died and made you king shit of fuck mountain"?, etc...); while fortune, that fickle bitch smiles down from providence without our knowing.
