NRG is Eternal!

Wanted to say thank you to NRG & Betacode, appreciate all you guys are doing, particularly in challenging times like this. Glad to be back brothers and sisters!

Here's what I want to know. What do we want?

I like the idea of separation of stuff, although so many of the things we talk about syncs in circles. Maybe:

• Social - members meet, music/video sharing, coffee lounge
• Esoteric/Weird
• History
• News
• health
• Private (was thinking about certain things we talk about attracting attention - IE the h3lm3r flash guys) with some kind of vetting process by Nick and Grass and others?

Would it be possible to create some kind of structure for some members to create a backup copy of the site? I know we could use a site scrapper tool, and that would be good to for someone to make backup copies periodically, but is relatively slow and somewhat hard to share. I could investigate spinning up a server and syncing the DB, to help should things go down again as well? IE a mirrored copy of the site in the event of another problem?

On design, the only request/suggestion is whatever theme we default to in the future be very mobile friendly. I typically use the site on my phone and making that easiest will help a lot.

Chat - I think having some kind of chat would be very helpful. I've done a lot of privacy research and depending on everyone's needs have some suggestions:

Signal - very secure (a bit of a pain in the ass)
Telegram - not as secure, but very simple to use - but is not as secure as signal.

Unfortunately both of these are app based though. One tool I'm checking out is:

Cyph.com - seems very strong (secure) and it's web based.

I like the idea of breaking the site down into multiple boards. As long as it is kept simple. I've noticed creating too many directories and subs could bury quality discourse.

Regarding spam. Perhaps designating some trusted members to moderate it.
The current color scheme (black/white) is a little hard on the eyes. I liked the #ocean boat blue

That would come off too much like dogma. In my opinion, that would defeat the purpose of asking and then finding the answer.
If it's all just laid out and you don't even have the right questions in mind what good is that info?

The only issue (not really an issue) I see with dividing the topics of our threads into different boards is that so many of the threads more often than not wind up connecting with each other and they eventually bleed into each other.

I agree with you.  So much synchronicity and I love the pinned/favorite threads that keep dancing around the same topics.

Glad to see all the usual suspects are back and posting.  Also, fwiw, I like the black and white combo, very 80's retro but I'm ok with any color/style combo.
