I see a laborious, gargantuan long term paradigm shift akin to the industrial revolution when villagers flocked to cities for work. Back then it was hell, if Blake, Hardy and Dickens are to be believed.

This time it will be the internet revolution. Yes, the web has been around for decades. But it took steam train/ship a few decades to propel and shore up the economies. We will see the net come to fruition this century.

I believe the IMF wanted to steer the world into this, using the virus. The other method was war but that's no longer viable considering the impact. Probably for no more sinister a reason than their usual avarice. They could see that the environment would suffer if we continued, and home workers are far more efficient drones without the needless expense of offices, etc. Interestingly, North Korea is one of the last to fall under the IMF glamor, so I think unless another leader follows their pied pipes they will be forced to come to heel. False flag maybe.

More people will work from home. The concept of a physical social workplace will die. Great for those with such jobs, not so for those left behind. My grandfather moved from the Highlands in the early 20th century for jobs in the steel and coal industry. When those proved too expensive and were shifted overseas, my father was basically left on welfare and unhireable and skill-less since his mid-40s to retirement.

That's what's next. A shift in social order. There is an opportunity for intimate spirituality for those genuine souls with more reflective time. But there's much toxic 'religiosity' from the 'influencers' who espouse dogma as bad as old religion. The media holds sway more than ever, and I sense censorship gain power.

Tess of the D'urbervilles could have moved to the factory. But she stayed in the country and suffered despite being close to nature. That choice is there for all of us.

if you want a physical labour workforce you want people with no disabilities, no issues, no disorders.

So if you wanna cull the population you cull those with disabilities, issues and disorders.

What better way to do this than a virus that kills people who have disabilities, issues and disorders? And a "vaccination" to do the rest because it turns out the virus wasn't efficient enough.

Then you have a global workforce to do your bidding.

But then you need a way of making sure they do the work.

What would work? What about a way of "paying them" based on what they actually do? This is efficient, assuming it can't be hacked or gamed. What would you have to pay them? Crypto seems like a good idea. Wait...they already have this...

I quite like your rambling.  Your writing feels very British.

I agree about the paradigm shift regarding work from home.  In America this will mean balkanization.  It's already happening, people are self-sorting into red and blue states.  Unfortunately blue states are so expensive, the tolerant and enlightened who befouled these states with their hippy dippy liberal policies are also exiting, with their hordes of mudgolem following in their wake.  The cancer will spread.  I'm contemplating moving so fucking far north that mudgolem will freeze.  I have a feeling we've done it before.

Something I've not seen discussed anywhere - what is happening in our failing school system.  Common core is a dumbed-down disaster.  Home schooling/zoom isn't working for most students.  These covid years are going to cripple the education of an entire generation.  Now add to that fact that over 50% of these school children are low IQ poc's and you have us sliding over the edge into the pit of third-world despair.  Most people in my boomer neighborhood didn't bother to reproduce.  They outsourced that work to immigrants as well.  They have NO IDEA how bad things are going to get when these 'dreamers' come of age.

I don’t think there is going to be a civil war. Atleast not all across the country, big cities perhaps. Thinking of recent blm protests but just turn the violence knob up, nothing new. I think if there were to be a civil war, first everyone would have to be jobless because as long as there’s money to be made and mouths to feed, something else bigger would have to happen than which old man is going to be president. Before memeing things in to existence, people would just have visions. Memes are artistic visions but a logical barrier prevents certain things from actually happening. Whatever happens next I think most won’t even see it, it’s nothing we don’t already know.

If Trump stays in office, a three pronged approach will be pushed: asymmetrical civil war, that is, urban guerrilla gangs against rural and well-armed proud boys;  second prong will be whipping up pandemic hysteria; and a third prong will be something financial. They're counting on Trump to win. Biden is just a plan B.
