If they did that in the UK now, we citizens have zero physical power vs our police (who now wear blacked out badges i.e. don't represent actual police because they don't wear the official police badge) and our armed forces though many think the armed forces would refuse to murder civilians whereas the police would be up for that.

I don't know if anon is correct, but it's been very difficult to get any guns or ammo in CA for at least 2 years.  And they limit how much you can buy.  Not just because of state law, but so others can buy some of the Limited supply, too.

I would think more veterans will lose their guns over the Red flag laws than anything else.  A dv abuser can get his (or her) guns back in 5 years.  I didn't see a limit if your guns are confiscated under a red flag law, if and when your guns will be returned.

Disagree on the dv stuff. Women are now talked to sternly (after they themselves do heinous stuff) and consider it dv. Had an Orthodox buddy tell his daughter calmly at dinner "honey please calm down we're eating at a restaurant and it's not polite to scream." The mother leaned in to him and told him not to yell angrily. He said it as calm and loving as could be. I laughed and told a story and she thankfully understood. Have a buddy who's a cop - 98%+ of rape and dv accusations are false. I've been accused multiple times as has every dating age male I know. This is being wielded by women VERY successfully right now.

Arcturus is a red giant star and one of the brightest stars in the sky.  It's name in Greek means "Keeper or Guardian of the Bear."

When I was looking for info on Acturus, I found that article above.  It's packed full of interesting facts. It was published 2-11-22.

  I went to archive it and it said it was first archived 6 years ago.  The article was first published 9-17-13.

They modified the article somewhat and left out some of the facts about other cultures.

The easiest way to spot Arcturus in the sky by following the curve of Ursa Major's (the Big Dipper) "handle" in the sky, thus revealing the origin of the famous phrase "follow the arc to Arcturus and then speed on to Spica." The latter part of that phrase refers to the bright star Spica (which is actually a binary).

With its ruddy orange-red glow, Arcturus is easily visible to the naked eye and thus made it quite visible to astronomers from many cultures. The Inuit in Canada's north, for example, called the star Uttuqalualuk, or "the old man," and the Lakota Sioux referred to it as Itkob u, meaning "going towards."

The name "Arcturus," however, comes from the ancient Greek Arktouros, which means something like Bear Guard or The Watcher of the Bear. The name refers to Arcturus' proximity to Ursa Major and Ursa Minor ("The Great Bear" and "The Lesser Bear.") And it always comes back to the World Fairs.

Organizers for the Chicago World's Fair in 1933 were searching for a memorable way to open their exhibit. Since Arcturus was believed to be about 40 light-years away from Earth at the time, the organizers hit upon the idea of using the star's light as a part of the exhibition.

They advertised the stunt as a way of commemorating the last world's fair in the city, which took place in 1893 — around the time the light of Arcturus would have started the journey to Earth. At 9:15 p.m. Central Time on May 27, 1933, telescopes focused the star's light on several photoelectric cells. The current was used to flip a switch that turned on the floodlights at the expedition grounds.
