I think this black and grey tone is pretty good, Beta.
The bit that's hard on the eyes are the full white quotes against the black. Other colours to choose from would be good, but for this one you might make the quote boxes a couple of shades lighter than the dark grey borders between each post.
The posts themselves might read better if the writing was a light grey against the black. The quotes could have white writing. Basically a bit less contrast between adjacent tones. Then again, that might look too dark overall.
Any images look better against a dark grey or even black background too, so that's another reason I like this type of theme.
