Not because of the virus. That's nonsense. but because of particles in the air.
In my own experience the simple act of wearing a dust mask at work was culturally revolutionary.
it was a real battle.
no one wants to wear them.
i create dust with every job i do.
why wouldn't i wear a dust mask?
well no one else does.
Now with the virus its all twisted.
What i can tell you is that my steel mill sheds alit of dust.
even with our epa approved baghouse.
Besides dust is natural.
us dust (humans shed skin)
insect dust (chitlin)
maybe its advisable to protect ourselves.
look at the cowboys on the range.
look at the miners with black lung.
look at us with surface dwellers myopia.
You expel carbon dioxide for the same reason you expel fecal matter and urine to have that carbon dioxide forced back in through your mouth and nose is definitely not optimal and probably hazardous
idealy a dust mask will expel the co2
but without even checking i can gues that co2 is able to pass through fabric on a mollecular level.
i would be more worried about pbeumonia in wet climates or the like.
i just really think its not a great idea to inhale some aliens into the lungs.
believe me i understand
even people who know what i do advise me to wear a dust mask at work but when given a perfectly good reason why they should wear one sometimes as well meets all kinds of rebuttals.
we keep saying pollution is a problem to our longevity.
im saying there are dust particles out there that we should classify as pollution.
now what should/could we do about it?
