Linux vs Windows vs MacOS
OP: April 05, 2020, 07:42:36 AM
I've been a windows guy since back in the day but as a programmer, I love Linux and I can use Mac. I've been really swapping between the 3 lately and I can't decide if I have a favorite right now. I'm just curious what you guys use and why.

If I may, I strongly recommend you use something closer to Linux and compile your own kernel.

MX Linux is nice and doesn't use the systemd crap.

Linux vs Windows vs MacOS

Linux. On an nvme which is a disadvantage 'cus Windows likes to overwrite it (and the boot loader) so I can't do dual boot. So if I wanna game, I have to take the side panel off, take the graphics card out, swap the linux nvme for the Win10 nvme I have and do the reverse.

Advantage though is I can boot between them without doing anything other than swapping the drives.

I tried dual booting between Linux / Windows using seperate sata 3 SSD's and Windows would keep corrupting the Linux one. Having to use a pendrive to boot a live CD JUST to fix GRUB every time I want to use Linux became a pain because I would use Windows sparingly and Linux for my main OS.

Then there was the system clock issue but that's another story...

tldr: Linux for everything but gaming. Win10 for gaming.

I won't even go on this site, let alone any banking site etc using Windows. Windows 10 is like installing spyware as your OS. Cortana, which can't be disabled has been found to keylog you automatically for example. You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

Window has been the way that it was the easy way before it was the way.  Linux is fun but plenty to learn there for me.

Check out Linux Mint, it's as easy to use as Windows, and there is a ton of helpful info online, even copy-and-paste lines of code so you don't even really have to learn much. Best part is, no annoying updates that require several gigs of free space.

I'm on a mac. Really love the workflow. If Terry was around and made TempleOS more user-friendly in terms of new tech and internet I'd use that.

So you believe even I could navigate Mint ? I am a chump with computers sadly .
